Steinway and Sons Custom Case Model B Grand Piano, designed by Cottier and Co., made Oct. 21, 1890 and shipped to Cottier & Co. Nov. 29, 1890. Model # 69430. The 85 note piano made in fancy white holly, inlaid exterior case and painted interior lid. The top with inlaid medallions, one depicts the 3 masks (tragedy, comedy and ?), 1 of berries and leaf circle, and 2 floral inlays edged with sytlized leaf carving. The sides of the case inlaid with leaf scroll chain and floral swags between oval medallions. The interior of the rectangular section of the portion of the lid over the music stand hand painted with floral and fruit swags, vines and shells with center inscription "Call in sweet music I have heard soft airs can charm our senses and expel our cares." The rest of the lid interior with hand painted floral and fruit swags, vines and ribbons framing a landscape with 2 figures on gold ground with reddish leaves. MLB Lot 87
