Nicholas Thorn began working with his father at a young age, helping out around the Weston Thorn Antiques shop and later assisting with the production of appraisals. When Weston decided to hold an auction in 1994, Nicholas was on the front line, running property and helping to manage the sale.

Since then he has been involved in the sale of numerous important estates and single items and has learned all aspects of the business from the ground up. His special interest is 20th Century Fine Art & Design, but is also knowledgeable in the more traditional fields of antiques and decorations. He is an auctioneer, appraiser and lecturer in the worlds of Art, Antiques & Design.

Highlight sales in which he has participated have included the estate of Joan Rivers, property from the collection of Mike Nichols & Diane Sawyer, the estates of renowned collectors Alice Lawrence & Mary Griggs Burke and numerous others. He has been involved in the discovery of two Zao Wou-ki paintings, a Paul Gauguin original still life painting & a treasure trove of major Tiffany lamps, among many other exciting finds. In addition to over 25 years of training from his father, he is a graduate of New York University’s college of Arts & Sciences and regularly continues his education through numerous lectures, conferences and seminars through the Appraisers Association of America and other organizations.
